CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) – Do you have a green thumb, or would you like to develop one? If that’s you, read on.
Erin Hostetler, the owner of The Patio Farmer and host of The Growing Space Podcast joined us at the studio today to walk us through the steps for growing herbs at home.
For about seven years, The Patio Farmer has been working with people all across the Charlotte region to provide one-on-one services in people’s homes, offering consultations, maintenance services, out-of-town visits and more.
According to Hostetler, there are numerous advantages in growing your own herbs as opposed to purchasing them in the store, one of which is that it’s cheaper since one plant costs about as much as a bag of herbs in the store.
She brought some perennial herbs, such as Rosemary, Mint and Golden Oregano along with her. According to the expert, these require at least 6 hours of direct sunlight and need to be watered every other day.
Hostetler also drew our attention to an interactive planting workshop she will be hosting alongside one of her Plant Club members, Julie Coffey, on Sunday, April 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Charlotte Swim & Racquet Club.
Tickets for the ‘BYOP – Bring Your Own Pot – Herb Gardening at Home’ event cost $7 and are available here.
According to Hostetler, attendees should bring their own pots, but she will provide them with all-natural potting soil, organic seedlings, seeds, and everything else they need to grow their own herbs.
In addition to that, Hostetler will also organize a container planting demonstration, which will raffled off to a lucky guest to take home.
